I Got So Many Things To Do
Blog Soundtrack
< --- See this? This is my To Do List for the next two festivals or as I call it the "Big Behind List" or "BBL". I need to complete this list within the next two weeks in time for the Cotton Festival. Actually, I've added a few more things to the list since taking this picture. Yeah...I'm a glutton for punishment.
I was going to type this long drawn out explanation about how I didn't wait til the last minute. I was hindered by the nearly constant rain this summer; compounded with an unexpectedly popular item. As well as the Farmer's Market continuing until the end of August. But, I'm too tired and my brain cells are currently in a fragrant haze (I bottled 3 different parfumes today).
So I'm closing with this...I got so many things to do. Pray for me!

Black Coffee; No Sugar, No Cream
Blog Soundtrack
There's a lot of coffee in the Frugal workshop. Packets upon packets of hazelnut, breakfast blend, decaffeinated along with a jar of instant. All of that coffee and not a drop of it, or should I say a grind of it for drinking. It all goes into soap.
Coffeehouse Creations Kitchen Soap |
We currently offer Coffeehouse Creations Kitchen Soap in four scents: Amaretto, Decaf, Hazelnut, and Midnight Mocha.
So the next time someone asks, "How do you take your coffee?" Tell them...in my soap!

Like Oil On My Hands
Blog Soundtrack
OLIVE OIL!
I LOATHE the stuff. It stains clothes, it has a strong aroma (which I can't stand), and it gets rancid quickly (which makes it smell even worse). It's EVERYWHERE! Olive Oil added to the hair products; olive oil included in the lotion; olive oil facial scrub. Olive Oil...PHOOEY! Don't get me wrong, I understand that there are many benefits from the cosmetic use of olive oil, but there are tons of other oils that are just as beneficial as the olive oil and offer additional benefits.
Here's a list of the oils that I use in my products along with a brief profile:
Castor Oil* - acts a humectant; adds shine to hair and skin
Fractionated Coconut Oil* - light; non-greasy; non-staining; quickly absorbs into skin; long shelf life
Grape Seed Oil* - light; non-staining; penetrates skin; rich in minerals, vitamins, and fatty acids; great for dry, damaged, or mature skin
Rice Bran Oil* - rich in fatty acids and antioxidants; great for delicate (baby), sensitive, and mature skin
Safflower/Sunflower Oil* - light; high fatty acids; great for damaged, dry, mature, or sensitive skin
*All of these oils have a shelf life longer than 3 months. However, most oils do have a limited shelf life should be kept in a cool area away from direct light.
I think it's wonderful that many people are trying natural oils, but don't fall into a heavy marketing trap. Do your research, and experiment. You'll be amazed at the amount of oil choices available that won't leave you smelling like a salad!

Powder Your Face (And Body) With Sunshine...
Blog Soundtrack
First of all I couldn't find the powder containers and puffs. Let me clarify that, I couldn't find them at a reasonable price. Frugal's brand is built around affordability. So an empty powder set costing ME almost $10 was not going to happen. So I started searching the web to create my own set. I had to actually make the powder puff and sifter but this was the result.
A powder set containing 6 ounces of powder for only $10. And we do carry a "Sunshine" powder... available after Mother's Day
